Heritage Centre in Grundarfjörður
A visit to the Heritage Centre in Grundarfjörður (25 min drive from Stykkisholmur) is a highly nostalgic experience. History becomes alive when storytellers guide you through exhibits about the life of farmers, fishermen, wives and families during the first half of the twentieth century.
These were the generations who experienced the changes from hardship and poverty, to new technology and modern ways in work, and housing.
The children can enjoy the playing area and discover old toys in the Sixties´ toy museum, the only one of its kind in Iceland.
At the Heritage centre there is also an information centre, internet access and an excellent café.
Open every day 10.00 – 18.00, from May 15th to September 15th.
