When crossing Breiðafjördur Bay from Stykkishólmur to Brjánslækur or back, there is a possibility to stop-off at the charming island of Flatey where time literally stands still.
Most of Flatey´s buildings are from the 19th century so strolling about gives one the impression of traveling back in time. In the summer there is a restaurant and accommodation for visitors.
On the Island you´ll fin a new hotel 'Hotel Flatey', which is in two renewed old houses. The hotel also operates a charismatic restaurant that specialises in local products.
